For people who suffer from hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels), those who tend to graze or those who are trying to lose weight, snacks between meals can be very appropriate. Some suggested options are as follows:
A handful of almonds and a small amount of dried fruit.
A piece of fruit and/or yoghurt.
A protein shake with low-fat milk (these can be prepared at the office).
Miso, chicken, vegetable or minestrone soup.
A rice ball with vegetables, obtainable at health food stores.
A muesli bar or protein bar.
A note on desserts
Use desserts once or twice a week. Otherwise stick to fruit and yoghurt.
A note on coffee
A coffee once a day after breakfast to get your day going is fine for most men but do not rely on it for your energy kick. If tired then look into the reasons why. Coffee is not the answer to long-term lethargy. If you are suffering high blood pressure, heartburn or anxiety, you should keep away from coffee altogether.
A note on alcohol
Try to drink quality wines that contain few preservatives and additives. Wines assist in the digestion of food. It is only the excessive use that will cause you liver and general constitutional problems.
